Virgílio Ferreira (Porto, 1970) completed an MA in Photography at the University of Brighton (2012), a course in Cinematographic Photography at the International Film School in Cuba (2005), a course in Photography at the École des Arts et Metiers de L'image 21-Paris (1995) and at the Technical School of Photography in Porto (1992). His work has been exhibited in Europe, the Middle East, the United States and Southeast Asia, has been recognised with several awards and is represented in various public and private collections. Since 1998 he has been regularly publishing his projects in book form. He is the founder and director of Ci.CLO Plataforma de Fotografia, artistic director of the Bienal Fotografia do Porto and the Vivificar Programme and co-curator and coordinator of the Sustentar Programme.
