Nuno Coelho (Brussels, 1976) is a designer, artist, and curator, based in Porto; a professor at the Department of Architecture (DARQ) of the University of Coimbra, where he teaches on the undergraduate and master's degree courses in Design and Multimedia; and a researcher at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies (CEIS20) of the same university. He holds a PhD in Contemporary Art (Univ. Coimbra); a Master's in Graphic Design and Production (Univ. Barcelona); and a degree in Communication Design and Graphic Art (Univ. Porto). As a designer, he has worked for various entities in Portugal and abroad, mostly artistic agents and cultural institutions. As a researcher and curator, he has coordinated exhibitions and public programmes, with an interest in history, material culture, digital humanities, and visual representation and semiotics. He has developed several self-initiated projects, at the intersection of design and art, on two essential axes: social and political themes; and topics related to identity and memory by exploring the politics of image-making and the archives of historic Portuguese trademarks and institutions. He is the author of two books and editor of two others. His most important projetcs are: exhibitions and books "A Land Without People for People Without Land" (2007-2016); "Uma História de Confiança" (2017); and "5th Notebook – Essay on the archives of Rivoli" (2017); exhibition "O Rosto da Confiança" (2016); co-curator of the exhibition "Unmapping the World" (2013); co-curator of the programme "Post-Amnesia: Dismantling Colonial Manifestations" (2021); and co-curator of the programme and book "An Elephant in the Crystal Palace" (2021-2023).
